The normal slider's main purpose is to pick a point along an axis.
Usually, this means picking a slice along the Z (into the screen) axis.
Controls
Buttons
The track button toggles whether or not applications to which the slider
is linked change in real time as the slider changes. For simple renderings,
such as Image's, this is quite useful. For
slowly-produced displays, it should probably be turned off.
The Axis button allows one to choose any of the axes in the data set
along which to pick a position. The default axis is the 3rd. Many
applications will draw lines indicating slider positions in the horizontal
or vertical directions. This can be helpful to line up interesting components
or to measure features.
Applications to Connect to This Application

"drag 'n drop" button to this application.
Applications to Connect This Application to
Nearly all applications use sliders.
Tricks and Gotchas
4D data sets connected to a slider will show all 4 axes on the axis button,
however, only the first 3 can be changed with the slider. If you try to
change the 4th, it will just change the 3rd axis.
