XYZPlot
XYZPlot plots 2D (i.e. three columns of) tabular
data into a 3 dimensional space. The example above shows three columns
of tabular data with latitude and longitude as independent variables. The
dependent variable is plotted on an axis perpendicular to latitude and
longitude. The plot can be rotated, panned and zoomed. You can enlarge
the plot by making the window full.
Controls
Rotate
The rotate button brings up a Two Axis Rotator
tool that is linked to the application. You can use this tool to
control the rotation of the object, and see the data from a different view.
This control may not be unlinked from the XYZPlot, although it may be used
to drive other applications. The 2AxisRotator may be killed by clicking
on the button again.
PanZoom
This button brings up the PanZoom Slider tool
already linked to XYZPlot without the need to go to the Tools menu.
The tool allows the user to change the view of the XYZPlot object by panning
and zooming on the object. This control may not be unlinked from
XYZPlot, although it may be used to drive other applications. The PanZoom
Slider may be killed by clicking on the button again. plotted points look.
Color
This button turns on a color feature that adds colors to the data plot.
Each data is colored according to its value relative to the entire range
of values. The color coding can not be modified.
Applications to Connect to This Application
Any Data Object may be connected via the
"drag 'n drop" button to this application.
Applications to Connect This Application to
None.
Tricks and Gotchas
You can duplicate the process of rotating by clicking on the screen.
You can also duplicate the PanZoom tool by clicking on the screen and holding
down the shift key. If you bring up a Rotate tool, the object will
reset to its original rotational position. If you bring up a PanZoom
tool, the object's location and zoom values will be reset to its original
position.
